The ski area of Alpe d'Huez Grand Domaine Ski is also known as ‘the island in the sun’.
This area is blessed with an average of 300 sunny days per year and many pistes are located on the south side of the area. More than 325 snow canons ensure that there is nearly always plenty of snow on the pistes. Beyond the reach of the snow canons, the Des Rousses glacier always provides excellent skiing terrain.

More than 238 km (148 ml) of pistes and 84 lifts in the ski area of Alpe d'Huez Grand Domaine Ski offer even the most spoilt skiers and snowboarders enough variety. The villages of Alpe d'Huez, Oz en Oisans, Auris en Oisans, Vaujany en Villard Reculas are all part of this great region.

For experienced skiers and snowboarders “La Piste de Sarenne” awaits you on the Pic Blanc at an altitude of 3330 meters (10,000 ft). This is the longest descent in Europe and a unique experience. Descending a total of 16 uninterrupted kilometres (10 ml) with an altitude difference of 1450 meters (4,800 ft) is bound to appeal to everyone. Besides this great piste there are plenty of options for novice skiers and snowboarders as well.

A half pipe has been built in Alpe d’Huez especially for the snowboarders and freestyle skiers! The half pipe can be found at the piste of Premier Tronçon. Next to that there are countless off piste descents waiting to be conquered by freeride enthusiasts. Thanks to the steady snow record Alpe d'Huez is also an excellent resort for cross country skiers. The 50 km (31 ml) of cross country skiing tracks are made up of blue (30 km / 19 ml) and red (20 km / 12 ml) pistes.

The ski station of Oz is also located in Alpe d'Huez Grand Domaine Ski. From here two cable cars provide connections with the other lifts and pistes within the area.

If you prefer to stay in an authentic French mountain village then Vaujany might be the right choice for you. Several lifts provide a direct connection with this lovely resort.
